Joe Kneip Park

Parks Build Community LogoPlayworld is honored to once again help sponsor a National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Parks Build Community project, an initiative demonstrating the transformative value of parks on the health and vitality of communities across America. This year’s beneficiary is Joe Kneip Park, located in North Las Vegas. It’s roughly 2.2 acres and within walking distance of more than 4,000 children and their families. The park was in need of updating because of graffiti and worn equipment, but the spirit of the community was evident as residents in the area continued to frequent the park.

NRPA stepped in and launched a crowdfunding campaign on its Fund Your Park website to help get Joe Kneip Park the updates it needed.

Each year, NRPA conducts a complete park makeover in partnership with park equipment manufacturers and community organizations within the city hosting the NRPA Annual Conference. What makes this year’s participation in the project even more special is that it commemorates NRPA’s 50th anniversary. What better way to share in our commitment to supporting healthy communities than through our partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association!

We know that communities can be revitalized through park initiatives and renovations. Benefits to the surrounding area and residents include increased property values, improved health and wellness, longevity, and sustainability.

We are looking forward to the unveiling of the park with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, the last day of the NRPA’s national conference. There will be food and entertainment including an Elvis impersonator, the Fay Heron Elementary Folkloric Dancers, and Von Tobel Middle School Mariachi Band to help celebrate the occasion. Local officials including North Las Vegas Councilman Isaac E. Barron and Mayor Pro Tempore Pamela A. Goynes-Brown will be on hand to help dedicate the new park to the community, along with representatives from NRPA and Playworld. With an anticipated attendance of over 300, this is sure to be quite a celebration.

If you happen to be in the area or attending NRPA, please join us as we celebrate this community’s new park.
