Playworld is proud to be ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified by SGS. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, international organization that develops and promotes market-relevant standards that support innovation, quality, safety, and efficiency. ISO 9001 sets criterion for a company’s commitment to and performance in manufacturing and shipping high quality products. ISO 14001 sets the standard for an organization’s environmentally-responsible manufacturing.
Playworld is the only playground manufacturer to take aggressive action to eliminate PVC. This allows most of our products* to be Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Bronze. This is a multi-level environmental certification system that assesses a product's safety to humans and the environment and design for future life cycles.
Certification covers all lines except electronic products (NEOS, KPE: Kid Powered Energy, Spring Riders with Sound, Funky Animals with Sound), custom products, and SMARTE surfacing. Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is a certification mark licensed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
Playworld is the first and only commercial playground manufacturer to have our facility certified by the U.S. Green Building Council for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance. LEED is the preeminent national program for the design, construction, maintenance and operations of high-performance green buildings. Learn more at usgbc.org/LEED.
Playworld is committed to doing everything we can to help you secure LEED points for your own project. Our PVC-Free Pledge alone could help earn you one LEED point and our Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze products can help you earn more LEED points.
Playworld is in full compliance with the material, testing, and reporting requirements of the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). Not only are we below the lead content in paint and substrate limits of the Act, but we also have eliminated 99.999% of PVC and extended the restrictions on phthalates to all types (not just the six phthalates indicated in Section 108 of the Act). By restricting all phthalates to the limits of Section 108, Playworld has taken an extra step toward alleviating health concerns regarding phthalates, as well as protecting the environment.
Playworld is a founding member of the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), a member-driven organization whose mission is to assist in providing safe environments for children to play. In the interest of playground safety, IPMEA provides a third-party certification service, whereby a designated independent laboratory (TUV America) validates a participant's certification of conformance to the following standards:
ASTMI Standard F1487:
Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Playground Equipment for Public Use CAN/CSA Z614:
Guidelines on Children's Play Spaces and Equipment ASTM F1292:
Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation Under and Around Playground Equipment.
The use of the corresponding IPEMA certification logos signify that Playworld has received written validation from an independent laboratory that the products associated with the use of the logo conform with the requirements of the indicated standard.
Playworld products are compliant with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), which restricts the use of specific hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products. All Playworld's electronic products are RoHS compliant.
